What’s the Difference Between a Therapist (therapy) and a Life Coach (coaching)?
I tend to believe that it’s impossible to completely separate the two but life coaching tends to focus on the present and future rather than the past. Coaches help people identify their goals and the obstacles they are facing. Like therapy, coaching involves guidance and support but also places a great deal of emphasis on accountability, enabling people to do more than they might on their own. Giving that, many things that ‘block’ an individual from moving forward stems from our past (especially with our intimate relationships like parents and old lovers). It is for this reason they all need to be addressed, but there will tend to be a focus on coaching or therapy.
